Suzuki Piano Teacher Training: Continuing Professional Development (CPD) at CSYM
The course prepares the trainee to take each of the examinations at the 5 levels of the ESA training structure. More importantly it aims to guide the trainees as to how to successfully teach young children, from three years old through to diploma level students, developing technique, tone, and listening skills.
1/ Trainees should ideally have a professional music degree on their instrument or show an equivalent standard of playing and musical education.
2/ Candidates are required to take an interview and audition consisting of two pieces of the Suzuki repertoire: 1st Bach Invention, and a choice of either the 1st movement from K330, or K545, or K331, all from memory.
3/ Candidates can join who are new to Suzuki, or who have taken some levels of training under the ESA and want to continue.
4/Auditions can be held throughout the year, but are mainly held during the Summer School in late July.
5/ Candidates who would like to find out more about our programme and the course on offer, are advised to apply for the 6 day course offered as an Introductory course at the Summer School in Cambridge which will run from July 21-26, 2018. This will also count as the first part of the course for those who wish to continue and have been successful in the audition.
